Men’s Golf Wraps Up Fall Season at The Williams Cup

Three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Monday at Eagle Point Golf Club
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program wraps up its 2021 Fall season when it tees off at the Williams Cup presented by STITCH Golf at Eagle Point Golf Club.
The Cougars will be part of a 10-team field, which includes Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State, NC State, UNCW, Vanderbilt and host North Carolina.
Teams will play 36 holes Monday on the 7,364-yard, par-72 course with the Final Round beginning Tuesday morning.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by senior Alexander Frances, junior Austyn Reily, senior Andrew Gibson, senior Braxton Watkins and freshman Julio Rios-Brache. Senior Laurence Crea will compete as an individual.
This season, Frances leads the Cougars with a 72.33 scoring average and four rounds of par or better The 2021 All-American Athletic Conference performer led the Cougars in each of the first two fall tournaments and tied for seventh at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Sept. 14.
Gibson and Reily are tied for second on the team with a 73.78 average with Gibson's three sub-par rounds second among the Cougars.
Rios-Brache will make his collegiate debut as part of the starting lineup in a team-scoring event. The Santo Domingo, D.R, native competed as an individual at the Washington County Individual (Sept. 5-7) and the Bentwater Intercollegiate (Oct. 11-13).

For the First Round, the Cougars will play in a group with student-athletes from Louisville and Iowa.
Frances begins the day for the Cougars at 8:30 a.m., off No. 14 with Reily (No. 15), Gibson (No. 16), Watkins (No. 17) and Brache (No. 18) following. Crea starts the First Round off No. 10.
