Houston Wins Exhibition Over Rice

Brascia scores lone goal for the Cougars
HOUSTON – Behind the lone goal of the day courtesy of senior midfielder Mia Brascia, the University of Houston Soccer team took down Rice by a score of 1-0 in Saturday's exhibition contest.
Brascia's score came in the 15th minute of the game. The shot on goal was one of six on the afternoon for the Cougars, who outshot Owls, 10-7.
Freshman midfielder Caitlyn Matthews led the way for Houston with a game-high three shots and two on goal. She was also credited with the assist on Brascia's goal, which came off a corner kick.
In the net, redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Salma Ghazal saw all 90 minutes of action, posting five saves in the process.
Up next, Houston opens its regular season on Thursday, when the Cougars host Houston Baptist inside Carl Lewis Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
