Cougars to compete in seven regular-season events starting Jan. 25 before beginning postseason play
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Golf program will begin its 2021 spring season on Jan. 25 in the first of seven regular-season tournaments, Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke announced Wednesday.
The Cougars' 2020 fall schedule was wiped out due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Now in his 12th season with the Cougars, Dismuke welcomes eight letterwinners from the 2019-20 team, which posted back-to-back Top-3 team finishes to start the fall season a year ago.
Senior Luke Long led the Cougars with a 70.71 scoring average and 15 rounds of par or better. The Fayetteville, Ark., native earned a season-best third-place finish at the White Sands Invitational in November 2019 and was named to the 2020 PING All-Central Region Team.
Senior Logan Young finished second on the team with a 72.18 scoring average and added eight rounds of par or better. The Normangee, Texas, native fired a career-best and bogey-free 65 during the Final Round of the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas on Sept. 24, 2019.
Senior Matt Cole tied with Young for team-low honors with a 65 in the Second Round of the Trinity Forest Invitational and finished second on the team with a pair of Top-10 showings.
