Houston on the Road to Face USF on Thursday

Cougars take on Bulls at 6 p.m. (CST) Thursday in Tampa, Fla.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to the road when it takes on American Athletic Conference rival USF at 6 p.m. (CST) Thursday inside the Yuengling Center.
The 11th-ranked Cougars enter their first game of the week following a 71-50 win over Tulane on Saturday afternoon inside the Fertitta Center.
Sophomore guard Marcus Sasser led the way for the Cougars, setting Fertitta Center records with 28 points and eight 3-pointers. The Red Oak, Texas, native became only the fifth player in school history to drain 8+ 3-pointers in a game and was honored as The American Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.
The Cougars lead the nation with 56.4 points allowed per game in 2020-21 and are ranked among the nation's Top-10 leaders in offensive rebounds per game (5th, 15.3 orpg), opponents field goal percentage (6th, 36.5), rebounding margin (ninth, +10.1) and opponents' 3-point field goal percentage (10th, 26.0).
Sasser is averaging 16.3 points per game to rank second among the Cougars and fifth in the league. Junior guard Quentin Grimes leads Houston with 17.7 points per contest and ranks second in the league, making Houston the only team with two of The American's Top-5 scoring leaders.
Senior forward Justin Gorham has grabbed double-digit rebounds in each of the last three games and leads the league with 9.1 rebounds and 4.7 offensive boards per game. The Columbia, Md., native also ranks third nationally with his offensive rebounding average.
Houston leads the league with a 10-1 overall record and a 5-1 mark in American Athletic Conference.
