LISTEN: Why I March

Yesterday's march across our campus felt so unreal. I wanted to be a voice of change. I wanted to speak up for those who don't have the platform or courage to do so. With everything happening in our society, I felt called upon to put this march together, and after talking to Alexis Cheatum, we knew it was the best thing for not just us but for other student-athletes at the University of Houston as well.

Just a week ago, I texted Alexis saying how we should plan a march here at UH, and a week later we did it! Over the last few months, I've learned so much about the social injustices that people who look like me face every day. Our goal was to raise awareness about racial inequalities and the fight to make a difference.

I am so thankful to be part of the Houston Volleyball team, and I couldn't ask for a better coaching staff to play for. For them, it's bigger than volleyball. That is so special for me. I want to thank our administrative and athletic staff for all their help and support to make this happen. This is definitely a moment in history I will cherish forever.
