Cougars set for first of two meetings with Mustangs
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team gears up for its first of two meetings this season with in-state rival SMU on Wednesday night at the Fertitta Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
GAME NOTES
COUGAR FAST BREAK
• Houston enters Wednesday's game with an 11-11 overall record this season, including a 4-4 mark in conference play.
• Houston has four players averaging double-digits this season led by Dymond Gladney with 12.5 points per game, followed by Dorian Branch with 11.2 points per game and Tatyana Hill 11.0. Julia Blackshell-Fair is the fourth Cougar in double-figures with 10.6 points per game.
• Houston is averaging 63.8 points per game on 39.0 percent shooting from the field and a 27.1 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 67.7 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 41.2 percent and 30.7 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
• Hill leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 6.4 rebounds per contest.
• Houston is a force to be reckoned with on the boards this season, averaging 37.8 rebounds per game including over 15 offensive boards per game.
• Houston forces 17.8 turnovers per game, with 15 or more forced turnovers in 19 of its 22 games this season. Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars are experts at protecting the rim, entering the game ranked 91st nationally in blocks (83) and 109th in Blocks Per Game (3.8).

• SMU enters Wednesday's contest with an 9-11 overall record and 3-5 mark in conference play. • SMU is averaging 58.3 points per game on 36.6 percent shooting from the field and 24.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
• The Mustangs enters its 4th season under Head Coach Travis Mays and is led in scoring by Kayla White who is averaging 10.6 points per game. Johnasia Cash leads the Green Wave on the boards with 8.9 rebounds per game, as Reagan Bradley leads the squad with 87 assists each this season.
