Cougars enter weekend with seven-game winning streak
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team puts its seven-game winning to the test this weekend, as the Cougars travel to Las Vegas for the Boyd Gaming Classic from Feb. 28 – March 1.
Through the course of the three-day event, the Cougars will play five games, squaring up against host-UNLV, New Mexico State and UTEP. With a live stream only available for the contest with UNLV, fans are encouraged to receive in-game updates on Twitter by following @UHCougarSB.
Houston is coming off an undefeated week that saw a midweek victory over Sam Houston State and a perfect weekend at the Houston Challenge, which included an upset over then No. 20/20 Texas Tech.
During the Cougars' seven-game winning streak, Houston has outscored its opponents 47-8, having erupted with three 11-run performances and launching 13 home runs in the process. That same stretch has seen Houston's pitching staff post a 1.43 ERA, which has included a pair of shutouts and another two games holding the opposition to just one run.
