
Houston Ready to Host All-American Intercollegiate

Three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Sunday morning
HUMBLE, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program opens its 2020 spring season when it tees off at the All-American Intercollegiate, beginning Sunday morning at Golf Club of Houston.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Sunday morning and continues with 18 holes each day through Tuesday. Each day begins with 8 a.m., split-tee starts off No. 1 and No. 10.
This will be the second of five consecutive tournaments in which the Cougars host. After closing the fall season at the White Sands Invitational in the Bahamas, Houston will welcome teams to the All-American Intercollegiate, Border Olympics (Laredo, Texas; Feb. 24-25), Cabo Collegiate (San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; March 1-3) and Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Palm City, Fla.; March 16-17).
The Cougars enjoyed a successful fall season with four straight Top-5 finishes, including the team championship at the White Sands Invitational in the Bahamas on Nov. 1-3.

TEAM FIELD
The Cougars – who stand at No. 32 in the latest Golfstat national rankings – will compete in a 13-team field against No. 8 Wake Forest, No. 30 South Carolina, Lamar, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas State, ULM, UT Arlington and UTSA.
THE LINEUP
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by junior Luke Long, freshman Austyn Reily, sophomore Braxton Watkins, junior Alexander Frances and senior George Gardner.
Junior Andrew Gibson, senior Logan Young, senior Matt Cole, junior Laurence Crea, senior Zach Tracy, senior Alex Isakson and senior Sam Elkington will compete as individuals.
Long leads the Cougars with a 70.42 scoring average and is tied with Frances for the team lead with eight rounds of par or better. The Fayetteville, Ark., native recorded four straight Top-20 finishes during the fall season, including a third-place showing at the White Sands Invitational, thanks to three consecutive rounds in the 60s.
Young stands second on the team with a 71.75 average, while Frances ranks third at 71.83.
Reily will make his collegiate debut after an award-winning prep career at Pottsboro High School.

For Sunday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Wake Forest and Sam Houston State.

Following the All-American Intercollegiate, the Cougars will play host to the Border Olympics at Max Mandel Golf Course in Laredo, Texas, on Feb. 24-25.
