Award-winning guard signs two-way contract
HOUSTON – University of Houston guard Nate Hinton will begin his professional career after agreeing to a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
Hinton became the latest Cougar to join the professional ranks, joining former centers Chris Harris Jr. (Turkey) and Breaon Brady (United Kingdom) and guards Armoni Brooks (G-League), Galen Robinson Jr. (Germany), Corey Davis Jr. (France), Rob Gray (France), Kelvin Lewis (Austria), Jahmar Thorpe (Japan), Jonathon Simmons (G-League) and Zamal Nixon (Germany).
Former guard Damyean Dotson recently completed his third season with the New York Knicks.

ABOUT NATE HINTON
Hinton was a two-year letterman for the Cougars from 2018 to 2020 before declaring for the NBA Draft following his sophomore season in 2020.
In two years, he led the Cougars to a 56-12 record, two NCAA Tournament appearances (including the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2019) and back-to-back American Athletic Conference regular-season championships.
As a sophomore, he averaged 10.6 points and a team-best 8.7 rebounds per game to lead the Cougars to a 23-8 record during a COVID-shortened season that was halted before the American Athletic Conference Championship.
One of only two Cougars to start all 31 games a year ago, Hinton earned NABC All-District 24 First-Team and All-American Athletic Conference Second-Team honors.
