Cougars sign standout Desoto guard for 2021-22
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program signed guard Kendall Brown to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday afternoon.
Brown will join the Cougars as a freshman in 2021 after concluding her senior season at DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas. The 5-10 guard helped DeSoto to a 32-3 record, No. 23 ranking in the MaxPreps national rankings and state runner-up finish in the Class 6A State Championship in 2019. She was selected to the All-Tournament team after recording 33 points and eight steals over two games. In 2019 Brown was both an All-Region and All-State selection.
"Kendall is a dynamic person," said Head Coach Ronald Hughey. "She comes from a great family. Both her and Bria Patterson come from the same high school and are built from the same cloth. DeSoto High School is one of the best in the country and is ranked every year. She is coming from a great pedigree. The thing that excites me about Kendall is that she has ice water in her veins and is a no-nonsense kid that can really get it done on the court. You can place her at any of the positions. She can shoot it, get to the rim and is a three-level scorer. She is exciting to watch, but an even better person. I think that is the thing that really sets her apart from a lot of people."
Houston is scheduled to start the 2020-21 season on Nov. 25 when the squad visits Oklahoma.
