Forward Robbie Armbrester Joins Houston

Wasatch Academy (Utah) forward will compete as freshman with Cougars in 2021-22
HOUSTON – Wasatch Academy forward Robbie Armbrester has officially joined the University of Houston Men's Basketball program after signing a National Letter of Intent, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Thursday.
Measuring 6-foot-6 and weighing 220 pounds, Armbrester will compete as a freshman with the Cougars during the 2021-22 season. A 3-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals, he considered Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Xavier, Clemson, Mississippi and Georgia.
"Robbie is a high-energy dude, fearless, tough and hard-nosed. He is a position-less player. Robbie is going to develop into a player that we can put anywhere," Sampson said. "He is a warrior, a tough, tough kid. He is versatile and his greatest strength is that he doesn't have a lot of major weaknesses."
Armbrester competed for three years at Therrell High School in Atlanta before transferring to play at Wasatch Academy for Head Coach Paul Peterson in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, as a senior for the 2020-21 season.
"I recently saw an interview where Coach Sampson said 'If you can play hard, I can work with you.' Robbie already has those attributes. He puts his heart and soul into everything he does. He has those things Coach wants, so the other parts of his game will grow," Peterson said. "Robbie has a great personality. He really embraces wherever he is. I bet the whole city will know who Robbie is by the end of his freshman year because he talks to everyone."
As a junior at Therrell High in 2019-20, he missed much of the season with a wrist injury as the Panthers advanced to the state championship game.
Armbrester was named to the Class AA All-State First Team and was the only sophomore to earn that distinction in 2018-19. A member of the All-Metro Team, he also scored 10 points in the Class AA state championship game to help lead the Panthers to the title.
Armbrester joins Monteverde Academy (Fla.) forward Ja'Vier Francis in Houston's signing class.
