Houston Hosts Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational

Cougars open 2020 inside Yeoman Fieldhouse
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field team will open the 2020 calendar year on its home turf when it hosts the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational, Jan. 17 at Yeoman Fieldhouse. Meet action is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the women's high jump.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Cougars will hit the track for only the second time this season on Friday. The Houston women enter the season ranked 15th in the USTFCCA Preseason Track & Field Ranking Index, returning a strong core of student-athletes who helped the squad win the 2019 American Indoor Track & Field title. Nora Monie will return to action after posting a collegiate-best throw of 15.94m (52-3.75) in the shot put at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational for first-place in the event. Naomi Taylor will return to action after a stellar outing in College Station where she finished first-place in the 60-meter hurdles.

On the men's side the men enter the season at No. 68 in the USTFFCA TFRI. Terence Ware returns to action after the break after earning American Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for his first-place finish in the 60-meter at the Reveille Invitational. Miles Marhofer will make his second appearance in a Houston uniform after shattering the program weight throw record in his Cougar debut.
