
Houston Gears Up for Rice Invitational

Cougars send six to compete cross-town
HOUSTON - Houston Tennis carries on with the 2019 fall season when it heads cross-town to compete in the Rice Invitational across Sep. 27-29.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- 12 other programs will compete at the Rice Invite, including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, USF, UTA and UTSA.
- The Cougars will send six to compete on the weekend, including doubles pair of Phonexay Chitdara and Sophie Gerits.
- Play will kick off at 9 a.m. each day of the tournament, starting with doubles and concluding with singles.
- On the doubles court, action will begin with the pair of Ndindi Ndunda and Azul Pedemonti in Flight one, followed by Chitdara and Gerits competing in Flight three, and rounding it out with pair Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Elena Tairyan in Flight four.
- Singles play will commence with Kendall-Woseley competing in Flight three, Pedemonti and Gerits in Flight five, Chitdara and Ndunda in Flight six and Tairyan finishing it up in Flight seven.
