Cougars open season with Nov. 9 exhibition against Angelo State, Nov. 12 opener vs. Alabama State
HOUSTON – With the season continuing to draw closer, University of Houston Men's Basketball fans are encouraged to purchase their 2019-20 season tickets now as fewer than 250 remain.
The Cougars look to defend their American Athletic Conference regular-season championship with 16 regular-season home games inside the beautiful Fertitta Center this season. The campaign begins Nov. 9 with an exhibition game against Angelo State and the regular-season opener against Alabama State on Nov. 12, both inside Fertitta Center.
Under the leadership of two-time, defending American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Kelvin Sampson, Houston returns seven lettermen and two starters from its 2018-19 squad, which posted a school-record 33 wins and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
Junior DeJon Jarreau was named The American's Sixth Man of the Year, while sophomore guard Nate Hinton was named to the league's All-Freshmen Team. Those veterans will be joined by an outstanding group of newcomers.
