Lyttle to Retire after 15 WNBA Seasons

Cougar standout Sancho Lyttle spent last two seasons with Phoenix Mercury
HOUSTON – Houston Women's Basketball alum Sancho Lyttle is set to retire from the WNBA after 15 seasons.
Lyttle spent the last two seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, starting 18 games in 2018 before suffering a season-ending knee injury and returning to the squad in 2019, appearing in 20 games. The Cougar alum began her professional career with the Houston Comets (2005-08), and was the only Houston Comet still playing after being taken No. 1 overall by the Atlanta Dream in the dispersal draft following the 2008 season.
The Houston standout will conclude her career after making nine play-off appearances (2019,2018, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2006, 2005) and three WNBA Finals Appearances (2013,2011,2010). The two-time All-WNBA Defensive First Team selection (2014, 2012) and four-time All-WNBA Defensive Second Team selection (2015, 2011, 2010, 2009) was selected as an WNBA All-Star during the 2009 season.
In 2005, Lyttle concluded her Houston career as the 23rd member of the 1,000-point club, racking up 1,092 points in just two seasons. Lyttle appeared in 62 games for the Cougars, averaging 17.6 points and 10.7 rebounds.
