Houston Hosts Red-White Scrimmage on Aug. 5

Fans invited to free event as Cougars prepare for 11-day trip to Italy in early August
HOUSTON – University of Houston Men's Basketball fans can catch their first glimpse of the 2019-20 Cougars and help the team prepare for its upcoming trip to Italy with the Red-White Scrimmage at 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, inside the Fertitta Center.
Admission is FREE to the Red-White Scrimmage. Fans can enter the Fertitta Center through the lower Club doors off Holman Street, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 5. Parking will be available for $5 in the TDECU Stadium Garage off Holman Street.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the Club, while representatives from the Athletics Ticket Office also will be available in the Club to help fans looking to purchase their 2019-20 season tickets.
Following the scrimmage led by two-time, defending American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars will sign autographs for fans.

ABOUT the COUGARS
The Red-White Scrimmage will be the first time the Cougars compete in front of fans ahead of their trip to Italy. Under NCAA rules, the team is permitted 10 practices ahead of their foreign trip.
Junior point guard DeJon Jarreau returns as the Cougars' leading returning scorer and assists leader with 8.7 points and 3.3 assists per game.
Six lettermen return for the Cougars, who finished 33-4, captured the American Athletic Conference regular-season title by two games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984 a year ago.
Junior point guard DeJon Jarreau averaged 8.7 points and 3.3 assists per game in his first season at Houston and returns as the Cougars' leader in both categories. The New Orleans native was recognized as the American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year.
Sophomore guard Nate Hinton averaged 7.2 points per game and leads all returnees with 4.4 rebounds per game. The Gastonia, N.C., native was named to The American All-Freshman Team.

SUMMER TRIP to ITALY
The Cougars fly out of Houston on Aug. 7 with a full schedule of cultural highlights and games to follow in Italy.
The Cougars are scheduled to tour Rome (including the Roman Forum and Colosseum), Vatican City (including the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel), food tasting in Siena, Florence (including the Accademia Gallery and Michelangelo's The David), Milan (including a tour of The Last Supper), Como and a boat tour of Lake Como.
In competition, the Cougars will play four games. The schedule begins at 1:30 p.m. (CDT), Aug. 9, against Stella Azzurra Academy in Rome, with additional contests against BC Silute (Lithuania) (1:30 p.m. CDT, Aug. 12), LCC International University (Lithuania) (11:30 a.m. CDT, Aug. 13) and Italian Select team (1 p.m. CDT, Aug. 15).
This is the second international trip the Cougars will enjoy under Sampson. Prior to the start of the 2015-16 season, the Cougars enjoyed a 10-day trip to China. Besides posting a 3-1 record in competition, the Cougars also enjoyed visits to Yellow Mountain and the 900-year-old village of Xi Di Hong.
