
Barker and Heebner Named to NFCA All-Region Team

HOUSTON – Senior outfielder Sarah Barker and senior pitcher/utility Savannah Heebner were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Third Team, the NFCA announced Thursday.
The honor marks the first for Barker, while Heebner earns the third All-Region nod of her career. Heebner joins an elite class of Cougars, joining Kristin Glowacz as the only players in program history to garner three NFCA All-Region honors in a career.
With Barker and Heebner being recognized, this also marks the third year in a row that Houston has had at least two players receive NFCA All-Region accolades.

Barker and Heebner, along with the rest of the Cougars, are set to compete in the postseason, as the Cougars travel to Austin, Texas, to participate in the NCAA Austin Regional.
Houston will face Texas A&M Friday at 1 p.m. to kick off postseason play.

BARKER'S 2019 BREAKDOWN
- Named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year
- Garnered the first NFCA All-Region honor of her career
- Earned the first All-Conference accolade of her career with her First Team naming
- Holds a top-five batting average in The American with her .376 mark
- Named to The American Weekly Honor Roll three times (3/11, 3/25, 4/8)
- Amongst the conference's best all-around players, finding herself in the top five in five offensive categories during league play including batting average (2nd, .418), hits (T4th, 23), slugging percentage (5th, .600), stolen bases (T2nd, 6) and triples (T1st, 2)
- Led the Cougars with six sacrifice hits on the year
- Finished the regular season with at least one hit in six of her final eight games, posting a .480 average during that stretch
- Named to the NFCA All-Region team for the third time in her career, a feat only one other player in program history has accomplished
- Garnered her fourth First-Team All-Conference honor
- Led the Cougars with team-high 13 wins in the regular season
- Posted a 1.57 regular season ERA that ranked third in The American and 35th in the nation
- Held opposing batters to a .205 average during league play, a mark that sat fifth in the conference
- Named to The American Weekly Honor Roll after helping lead the Cougars to a road series win over UCF
- Finished the regular season winning her last five decisions, allowing just four earned runs in her final 34.0 innings pitched.
