Houston Tees Off at Augusta Haskins Award Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Houston Men's Golf programs returns to action this weekend when it tees off at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational.
Saturday's play begins with a 7:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start with 36 holes scheduled on the 7.005-yard, par-72 course at Forest Hills Golf Club. Sunday's Final Round tees off with a 7:30 a.m. (CDT) split-tee start.
This marks the 13th straight season Houston has competed in the annual tournament hosted by Augusta (played under different names in the past).
Following Sunday's Final Round, the Cougars will take a late flight home to Houston on Monday evening. Earlier Monday, the team will enjoy the practice round at The Masters at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta.

THE LINEUP
Under the direction of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by sophomore Alexander Frances, freshman Braxton Watkins, junior Logan Young, senior Matt Williams and sophomore Andrew Gibson.
Williams leads the Cougars with a 72.72 scoring average and 11 rounds of par or better this season, while Young stands second at 72.86 and nine sub-par rounds.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against Air Force, Arkansas, Georgia State, Illinois, Mercer, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Texas, UCF, USC Aiken, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and host Augusta.
PAIRINGS
For Saturday's First and Second Rounds, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from UCF and Notre Dame.
Watkins will start the day for the Cougars in the first group off No. 9 with Frances (second group off No. 9), Williams (first group off No. 10), Young (second group off No. 10) and Gibson (No. 11) following.
UP NEXT
Following the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, the Cougars close out their regular season when they play host to the Bayou City Intercollegiate at Golf Crest Country Club in Pearland, Texas on April 15-16.
From there, Houston enters the postseason when it tees off at the American Athletic Conference Championships on April 21-23 on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
