Men's 4x400 Claims Fifth-best Time in Houston History

Cougars conclude weekend action in Houston and California
HOUSTON – After a long day of action at the Mt. Sac Relays and J. Fred Duckett Invitational, the University of Houston Track & Field team closed out three days of action in both Houston and California with 13 top-five finishes.

AT MT. SAC RELAYS
Â
On the track the men's 4x100-meter relay team finished second in the invitational event with a time of 39.17. Travis Collins, Mario Burke, Terence Ware, and John Lewis III combined for the fastest collegiate time in the event.

Burke continued to have a good day on the track, finishing fourth in the men's 100-meter dash, posting the best collegiate finish of the day at 10.33.

Naomi Taylor shined on the women's side, taking home fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-record of 13.06.
Â
Obi Igbokwe finished the 400-meter dash in fourth-place, with the fastest collegiate time of the day at 45.91.
Â
In the 400-meter hurdles, Amere Lattin took top honors in his section, and second-overall in the event. The senior concluded the race with a time of 49.98.
Â
The men's 4x400-meter relay squad closed out the meet for the Cougars on a high note, finishing in second place with a time of 3:05.05. The squad combined for the fifth-fastest time in Cougar history.

In the field, Felipe Valencia took home top honors in the shotput invitational with a throw of 60-6.75 (18.46m).

 AT J. FRED DUCKETT TWILIGHT MEET
Â
Jordan Booker sprinted to at first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.22. Booker also took home third-place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.63.

Edward Sumler IV also competed in the 200-meter dash as he finished in second with a time of 21.32.
Â
Finishing in second-place in long jump was Phedenia George-Mosbey, who set a new lifetime best at 19-7.50 (5.98m).

Devion Wilson came in second-place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.30.
Â
Coming in second-place in the 100-meter hurdles was Whitney Ochiam who closed out the event with a time of 14.56.

Anna Larsson closed out the heptathlon with a podium finish, racking up a lifetime best 4,718 points.
