Gerrod Chadwell named Coach of the Year, Leonie Harm recognized as Player of the Year, four named to All-Conference Team
HOUSTON – After winning its third title in the last four years, the University of Houston Women's Golf program earned multiple postseason awards from the American Athletic Conference on Friday.
Gerrod Chadwell was named the league's Coach of the Year, while senior Leonie Harm was recognized as the Player of the Year. Harm joined senior teammates Maddy Rayner and freshmen Maria Jose Martinez and Hannah Screen on the All-American Athletic Conference Team.
Chadwell was honored as the league's top coach for the third time in the last four years, while Harm was named The American's top player for the second straight season. This also marked the second straight season the Cougars placed four on the All-Conference squad.

Now in his sixth season as the only coach in Houston Women's Golf history, Chadwell has built a program with three conference titles and six NCAA Regional appearances. Houston has qualified for NCAA Regional play every year in which eligible as a team, dating back to the 2014-15 season.
In 2018-19, the Cougars earned five Top-4 finishes with titles at their own ICON Invitational on Feb. 25-26 and The American Championships earlier this week.
With Tuesday's title, the Cougars became the first American Athletic Conference school to win three Championships and became the first program in league history to record back-to-back league crowns.
Houston's 30-stroke victory was the largest in Championships history, more than doubling the Cougars' 14-stroke win in 2018.

Harm has established herself as one of the greatest players in Houston history. This season, she leads the Cougars with a 72.00 scoring average and 15 rounds of par or better.
In addition to the American Championships, the Gerlingen, Germany, native shared individual titles at the Clover Cup and the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship earlier this spring and has finished among the Top-20 leaders in all but one tournament this season.
In March, she was one of 72 invitees to compete at the inaugural Augusta Women's National Amateur and is ranked No. 10 nationally by Golfstat and No. 14 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings.
By the time her collegiate career ends, Harm will rank as the Cougars' career leader in scoring average, tournament titles, Top-10 finishes and Top-20 finishes.

Rayner received her first postseason honor after an impressive run during The American Championships earlier this week.
After opening that tournament with a 74, Rayner rebounded in the Second Round with a 68 for the low 18-hole total of the Championships and closed out the tournament with a 70 to tie for third at 4-under 212.
The Southlake, Carroll, Texas, posted 18-, and 54-hole career lows and enjoyed the best finish of her career.
She ranks third among the Cougars this season with a 74.39 average and eight rounds of par or better.
Competing in her first collegiate season, Martinez received her first postseason accolade. The Alvarado, Mexico, native has posted four Top-20 finishes, including fifth-place showing at the MountainView Collegiate Invitational after firing three straight sub-par rounds.
Martinez opened The American Championships with a 70 and tied for sixth at even-par 216 in her first postseason tournament.
Like Martinez, Screen collected her first postseason honor. She was the only Cougar to compete in all 10 team-scoring tournaments this season and ranked second on the team with a 72.82 scoring average and 12 rounds of par or better.
The Berkhamsted, U.K., native has earned five Top-10 finishes, including a pair of Top-5 showings.
Screen lowered her score with each round at The American Championships earlier this week, closing the tournament with a 70 to join Martinez in a tie for sixth.
The Cougars were joined on the All-American Athletic Conference Team by Maria Balcazar (UCF), Elizabeth Moon (UCF), Kathryn Carson (ECU), Dorthea Forbrigd (ECU), Bridgette Dunne (SMU), Michaela Fletcher (Memphis), Ramya Meenakshisundaram (USF), Jennifer Rosenberg (Tulane) and Lorena Tseng (Tulane).
