The Cougars face Houston city neighbors before conference tournament
HOUSTON – The Houston Women's Tennis team is preparing host Rice at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 12, at Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.Â
The Cougars are stepping back on their home court after defeating conference rivals USF last Sunday, 4-2. The thrilling match came down to one match at Court 2, where freshman Sophie Gerits was able to win her match in a three-setter, bringing the Cougars to a 3-0 conference record this season.Â
ABOUT THE OWLS
Rice comes into the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on Friday with a 12-7 record, defeating Florida International University in their last match, 4-0. Sophomore Michaela Haet leads the team at Flight 1 in singles, while Priya Niezgoda and Anastasia Smirnov take the first court in doubles.

The Cougars will head to the American Athletic conference tournament on Wednesday, April 17, in Orlando, FL.
