Heebner collects Cougars’ lone hit in contest
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team dropped game two of its three-game series with USF on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-0.
The Cougars (24-11, 2-3 AAC) collected one hit against the Bulls (25-14, 3-2 AAC), as a leadoff double from senior pitcher Savannah Heebner in the bottom of the fifth gave Houston its first hit of the game. Junior outfielder Lindsey Stewart had her reached base streak ended at 24 games, with her 0-for-3 outing.
In the circle, Heebner went the distance and pitched all seven innings, tossing her 14th complete game of the season. She has now surrendered two earned runs or less in five of her past six starts.

KEY INNINGS
1st | The Cougars threatened to strike early on in the contest, as a stolen base from senior outfielder Sarah Barker put a runner in scoring position with one out. After a couple of walks, Houston loaded the bases, but was unable to put any runs on the scoreboard.
5th | After a two-run home run from the Bulls gave USF the first lead of the game, the Cougars tried to respond with runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. A leadoff double from senior pitcher Savannah Heebner put a runner in scoring position with nobody out, but Houston couldn't muscle the timely hits needed to mount a comeback.
