Queen launches pair of solo home runs
HOUSTON – Junior infielder Sarah Queen blasted two solo home runs on Friday night, but her effort wasn't enough as the University of Houston Softball team fell to USF by a score of 4-2.
Heading into Saturday's second game of the three-game series, the Cougars sit at 24-10 on the year and 2-2 in conference play, while the Bulls move to 24-14 and 2-2 against conference opponents.
On the night, Queen posted a team-high two hits and was joined by senior outfielder Maya Thomas and junior outfielder Lindsey Stewart as those who collected hits in the contest. Senior pitcher Presley Bell went the distance for the Cougars, tossing her eighth complete-game of the season.
Queen's two home runs marks the third time in her career she has hit multiple long balls in a game. For Stewart, she has now reached base in 24 consecutive games.

KEY INNINGS
1st | After the Bulls struck first scoring a run to open the game, the Cougars showed off their defensive skills as a double-play started by senior first baseman Savannah Heebner, limited the damage to just one run.
2nd | Junior infielder Sarah Queen got the bottom half of the inning started for Houston, as her solo home run to lead things off tied the game at one.
4th | With two outs in the inning, Queen stepped into the batter's box and launched her second home run of the game to give the Cougars their first lead of the game, 2-1.
5th | The Bulls came right back and responded though, as two runs in the fifth allowed USF to reclaim a one-run lead, where they never looked back in route to the 4-2 victory.
