Cougars face No. 23 Texas A&M at 3 p.m. on Sunday
HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Baseball team fell to Texas State, 9-4, on Saturday afternoon as part of the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic at Minute Maid Park.
With the decision, the Cougars move to 4-5 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 7-3.
KEY INNINGS
2nd | Houston struck first with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. With one out, junior left fielder Tyler Bielamowicz jumped on the first pitch he saw for a single up the middle. Two batters later, junior catcher Blake Way cleared the bases with a home run to left field.
3rd | Two triples led to two runs for Texas State to tie the game in the third.
4th | The Bobcats took the lead behind four unearned runs in the fourth.
5th | Junior third baseman Jared Triolo hit a bases-loaded single in the fifth to make it 6-3.
8th | Texas State tacked on two more runs via a two-run home run in the eighth.
9th | After the Bobcats pushed one run across in the top of the ninth, senior designated hitter Rey Fuentes III homered to left center for the 9-4 final.
HOUSTON NOTES
Offense:
• Way, making his first career start behind the plate, finished 2-for-3 with one home run, one walk, two RBI and two runs scored. The home run was the first of his career.
• Fuentes III, who made his first start of the season, belted his first career home run as part of a 2-for-4 showing.
• Triolo also recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
• Outfielders Bielamowicz (1-for-3) and Grayson Padgett (1-for-4) each recorded one hit, respectively. Bielamowicz added one run scored.
Pitching:
• Senior right-handed pitcher Ryan Randel (1-1) took the loss, surrendering four runs (two earned) on six hits across three and one-third innings. He finished with two walks and three strikeouts.
• Junior Fred Villarreal tossed two and two-third innings, being taxed for two unearned runs on four hits. Villarreal walked one and struck out three.
• Sophomore southpaw Clay Aguilar logged the final three innings on the mound. The native of Deer Park, Texas, issued three runs on six hits while walking none and recording three strikeouts.

The Cougars close their participation in Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic with 3 p.m. first pitch against No. 23 Texas A&M on Sunday at Minute Maid Park. Fans can enter the ballpark through either the South Home Plate Entrance or Right Field Entrance.

PARKING IN 2019
Gameday parking is offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
