Senior sprinter/hurdler claims honor
HOUSTON - Senior Amere Lattin earned The American Athletic Conference's Men's Track Athlete of the Week as part of the first honors given this outdoor season, the league announced Tuesday.Â

Lattin claimed the 400-meter hurdles title at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational las Thursday, Houston's outdoor season opener in front of its home fans. The award is the first of the outdoor season and first overall this season for Lattin.
The All-American slammed the competition, in a time of 49.82, the nation's fastest time in the early season, and just two-hundredths of a second off the world-leading time.
For Houston, the award is the first of the outdoor slate and the 12th total American award of the season.
UP NEXT
Houston returns to action for its first two-day meet of the outdoor season, when they head to the Rice Victor Lopez Classic. The meet at Houston's crosstown rival will be held across March 22-23 at Wendel D. Ley Track.
