Houston Selected to WNIT, Will Face Arkansas

Cougars advance to WNIT for second straight season
HOUSTON – The Houston Cougar Women's Basketball team will make its second straight postseason appearance, earning a bid to the 2019 Women's National Invitational Tournament. The Cougars will travel to Fayetteville where they will face Arkansas in the opening round on Thursday, March 21.

Houston is coming off of a fourth-place finish in the American Athletic Conference, its highest finish since joining the league. The Cougars closed out The American Championships with a 15-15 overall record, including a 9-7 mark in conference play. The postseason appearance will be the Cougars 10th in program history and fifth WNIT appearance. The Cougars capped off its fifth season under Head Coach Ronald Hughey with two players earning all-conference honors. Dorian Branch earned Second-Team accolades and Angela Harris was tabbed for the Third-Team.
Houston is one of 32 at-large qualifiers and one of three teams in The American to make the field. The Cougars join a 64-team field in the single-elimination tournament that will culminate in the championship game on April 6.
