Game to take place on Friday with time and network TV TBA
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the second straight season and the 21st time in school history, the University of Houston Men's Basketball was selected to compete in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening.
The ninth-ranked Cougars will compete as the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Regional and face No. 14 seed Georgia State inside the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., on Friday. That game will tip off at 6:20 p.m., Friday, and can be seen on TBS and heard on KPRC 950 AM.
This is the highest the Cougars have been seeded in the NCAA Tournament since the 1983-84 team played as a No. 2 seed on the way to the National Championship Game.
The winner of Friday's First-Round will face the winner of the (6) Iowa State-(11) Ohio State winner on Sunday with a berth to the Sweet 16 on the line.
Houston fans should have pleasant memories of the BOK Center. In 2010, the Cougars won four straight games in as many days to capture the Conference USA Championship title and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992.
