Houston Claims 10 Titles to Open Outdoor Season

Houston sweeps all four relay events
HOUSTON – The Houston Track & Field program opened the outdoor season with 10 titles Thursday at the Spring Break Invitational.

Fresh off Indoor All-America honors, Naomi Taylor opened her outdoor season with a win in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 12.84.
Â
Ashley Seymour made her outdoor debut by placing on top in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.64.
Â
The women's 4x100-meter relay of Naomi Taylor, Ariele Adams, Essance Sample, Samiyah Samuels and Ashley Seymour finished first with a time of 44.77.
Â
The women's 4x400-meter relay of Birexus Hawkins, Seymour, Erin Derrow and Payge Side finished first with a time of 3:43.18.
Â
The men's 4x400-meter relay of Frederick Lewis, Mario Burke, Tyrell Valentine and Naaman Outing finished first with a time of 3:10.86.

The men's 4x100-meter relay of Nicholas Alexander, Burke, Brandon Taylor and Travis Collins finished first with a time of 38.82.
Â
Taylor also finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.34.
Â
Amere Lattin finished on top in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 49.82 while Quivell Jordan was second with a time of 50.87.

Edward Sumler IV made his outdoor debut by finishing first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.95. Coming in right behind was Booker with a time of 21.09. Coming in third was Jermaine Holt with a time of 21.12.

Felipe Valencia finished first in shot put with a throw of 58-9.25 (17.91). Following Valencia was Triston Gibbons, making his outdoor debut by finishing second with a throw of 57-8.25 (17.58).

Gibbons also placed second in the discus with a distance of 179-4 (54.67).
Â
Side made her debut in the outdoor season by finishing second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.20. Also making her debut was Cecila Tamayo-Garza in the 200-meter dash, as she finished third with a time of 24.30.
Mikaila Martin finished second in the hammer with a throw of 181-1 (55.18).

Colin George finished second in high jump with a height of 6-9.75 (2.08).
Â
Blake Contreras finished third in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:58.40.

Making her outdoor debut, Kimberly Haines finished third in the javelin with a throw of 118-6 (36.13).
Â
Phedenia George-Mosbey finished third in long jump to set a PR of 19-5.25 (5.92).
Â
Hailey Pollard placed third in the discus with a throw of 148-9 (45.33).
