Heebner tosses second complete game of season
The Cougars (1-3) began the day dropping their game with No. 13/15 Kentucky (2-2), 13-1, before falling, 4-2, to Illinois (3-1).
KEY INNINGS
1st | Freshman pitcher Rachel Hertenberger began her collegiate career having struck out the first batter she faced. She later contributed another strikeout in the inning, finishing the game with four.
3rd | The Wildcats extended their lead to six runs, courtesy of a two-run home run in the inning, where they never looked back from that point in the game, in route to the victory.

KEY INNINGS
5th | Freshman catcher Kati Ray Brown jumpstarted a two-out rally with a base-knock up the middle for the first hit of her career. Senior catcher Brooke Vannoy then doubled her home for Houston's first run of the game. Using her speed to beat out a single and allow Vannoy to score on the play, junior Lindsey Stewart extended the inning and tied the score at two.
7th | Illinois reclaimed the by two runs in the top of the inning, which proved to be the difference in the game, having won by two.

The Cougars wrap up their opening weekend on Sunday with a matchup against Sam Houston State at Cougar Softball Stadium. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 2 p.m. and can be streamed online at uhcougars.com.
