Cougars win eighth game in a row
With the win, the Cougars improve to 12-5 on the year, with the Aggies falling to 9-6. During the eight-game winning streak, Houston has outscored its opponents 62-6, posting five shutouts in the process.
At the plate, seniors Savannah Heebner and Maya Thomas, along with junior outfielder Lindsey Stewart, led the Cougars with a game-high two hits apiece. Heeber and freshman outfielder Abby Odneal, who blasted her second home run of the season, each drove in a pair of runs.
In the circle, Heebner paced the Cougars, tossing her seventh complete-game of the season. She finished the night without allowing a walk and surrendered two earned runs.
KEY INNINGS
1st | The leadoff batter reached base for the Aggies and Texas A&M quickly took a two-run lead in the first after a two-run home run put them up by a pair.
3rd | With the Cougars trailing 3-1 entering the bottom of the inning, Houston put up another offensive eruption and took the lead, having never looked back from that point. After the first three batters for Houston reached base, a wild pitch from Texas A&M scored senior catcher Brooke Vannoy to bring the Cougars within one. Senior pitcher Savannah Heebner then came up to the plate with the bases loaded and singled in a run of her own to tie the game at three. Another walk with the bases loaded plated the Cougars' third run of the of the inning, giving them a 4-3 lead. Senior Maya Thomas stepped into the box and ripped a double over the centerfielder's head, driving in another two runs and after the fifth drawn walk from Houston in the inning, the Cougars entered the fourth holding a 7-3 advantage.
6th | After junior outfielder Lindsey Stewart reached base on a fielder's choice, freshman outfielder Abby Odneal sent her second home run of the season over the wall to push the Cougar lead to six and seal the 9-3 win for Houston.

The Cougars continue the final stretch of their homestand hosting the Red and White Challenge from March 1-3 at Cougar Softball Stadium.
Houston will square up with DePaul in its first matchup of the weekend on Friday. First pitch for that contest is schedule for 3:30 p.m.
