Senior pitcher strikes out career-high eight batters
HOUSTON – Senior pitcher Presley Bell threw a complete-game shutout on Sunday afternoon to help lead the University of Houston Softball team to a 4-0 win against Louisiana-Monroe.
The shutout marked the second of the season for the Cougars (5-5), as they finished the Houston Classic with a 3-2 record on the weekend.
Against the Warhawks (1-9), Bell surrendered just three hits, having allowed no walks in the process. The eight punchouts she recorded is a career-high, as the shutout is the sixth of her career. In her 15.0 innings pitched on the year, Bell hasn't allowed an earned run.
Offensively, infielder Charese Wyatt continued her hot start to her sophomore campaign, going 2-for-2 in Sunday's win, with a double and three RBIs. She was joined by junior infielder Sarah Queen as those with multiple hits on the day.
