Houston Moves into Top 10 in National Rankings

Cougars at #7 in NCAA NET rankings, rise to #9 in USA TODAY Coaches’ and Associated Press polls
HOUSTON – After knocking off two of the Top-3 teams in the American Athletic Conference last week, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program moved into the Top 10 of both national polls on Monday.Under the leadership of Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars received 517 points to rise to No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches' poll and collected 1,022 points to move to No. 9 in the new Associated Press poll.
This was the first time that the Cougars were ranked in the Top 10 of any national poll since the 1983-84 team finished the regular season at No. 5.
The Cougars, who stand at 23-1 overall, enjoyed a 77-68 win at UCF on Thursday in Orlando and followed that with a 65-58 win over No. 25/23 Cincinnati on Sunday inside the Fertitta Center.
With the win over the Bearcats, Houston moved into sole possession of first place at 10-1 in the latest league standings and extended their home winning streak to 32 straight games, the nation's longest active streak.
UP NEXT
• Sampson and the Cougars hit the road for a pair of American Athletic Conference games this week.
• The road swing begins at 6 p.m. (CST) Thursday, against UConn inside the XL Center in Hartford, Conn... Will be the lone regular-season meeting against the Huskies... Game will be shown on ESPN and can be heard on KPRC 950 AM.
• From there, the Cougars face Tulane at 1 p.m., Sunday, inside Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans in the lone regular-season meeting against the Green Wave... That game can be seen on CBS Sports Network and heard on KPRC 950 AM.

Limited tickets are available for the Cougars' remaining home games against USF (Feb. 23), UCF (March 2) and SMU (March 7). Single-game tickets begin for as low as $10.
Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets soon for the last three games before all are sold.
