Cougars at #7 in NCAA NET rankings, rise to #9 in USA TODAY Coaches’ and Associated Press polls
Under the leadership of Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars received 517 points to rise to No. 9 in the USA Today Coaches' poll and collected 1,022 points to move to No. 9 in the new Associated Press poll.
This was the first time that the Cougars were ranked in the Top 10 of any national poll since the 1983-84 team finished the regular season at No. 5.
The Cougars, who stand at 23-1 overall, enjoyed a 77-68 win at UCF on Thursday in Orlando and followed that with a 65-58 win over No. 25/23 Cincinnati on Sunday inside the Fertitta Center.
With the win over the Bearcats, Houston moved into sole possession of first place at 10-1 in the latest league standings and extended their home winning streak to 32 straight games, the nation's longest active streak.
