Henry Named to Stopper of the Year Watch List

Junior reliever made 28 appearances out of the bullpen with six saves in 2018
GREENVILLE, N.C. -- University of Houston Baseball junior reliever Carter Henry was named to the 15th Annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award Watch List, the association announced Monday.
The native of Port Neches, Texas, was named among 75 players on the NCBWA's initial list for the 2019 season. The award is given annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball. For the full release, click HERE.
Henry was one of two representatives from the American Athletic Conference, joining Jacob Wallace of UConn.
As a sophomore, Henry helped the Cougars capture the 2018 American Athletic Conference regular-season title, the program's fifth title in the last five seasons.
In 2018, Houston finished 38-25 overall, its sixth season with at least 36 wins, and 16-8 in league play to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, the program's 22nd all-time NCAA Regional appearance.

• Tied for team lead with 28 appearances with all coming out of the bullpen
• Posted a 5-1 record with six saves (five in conference play) across 47.1 innings
• Recorded six saves and was a part of two shutouts
• Recorded 51 strikeouts and held opponents to a .217 average
• Went a span of 16.1 innings over 11 appearances (March 20 – April 27) without allowing an earned run
• Made 11 appearances without allowing a hit
ON DECK
The 2019 season gets underway Friday, as the Cougars host Northwestern State in a three-game series at Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park. Houston will host the Demons in a pair of 6:30 p.m. tilts on Friday and Saturday before closing the series at 1 p.m., Sunday.

Gameday parking will be offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
