Cougars Post 14 podium finishes in first day of action in Baton Rouge
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team posted 14 podium finishes, including four first-place finishes in the opening day of action in Baton Rouge against No. 25 LSU and Rice. Action resumes tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the third straight week the Cougars faced a ranked opponent, as well as an opponent from the SEC.
- Laura Laderoute continues to be a mainstay on the podium for Houston with three top-three finishes that include one first-place finish.
- Laderoute won the 100 Backstroke with a time of 54.77, finished third in the 200 Backstroke at 2:01.02 and closed out her day with a second-place finish in the 200 Individual Medley at 2:03.51
- Ioanna Sacha continues to make her mark, posting a pair of top-three finishes, including top honors in the 200 Backstroke at 1:59.95 the sixth-fastest time in program history. Sacha finished second in the 100 Backstroke behind Laderoute at 55.85.
- Peyton Kondis continues to anchor the Cougars in the Breaststroke, winning the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:17.42, followed by Gaby Jimenez in third-place at 2:18.43. Kondis finished third in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:03.67
- In the 200 Freestyle, Zarena Brown led the charge for Houston, winning the event with a time of 1:49.30. Brown finished third in the 100 Freestyle at 51.21.
- In the 500 Freestyle Samantha Medlin led Houston with a time of 5:00.62 for first-place.
