Houston Opens Indoor Season at Texas A&M

Cougars set to compete at TAMU Reveille Invitational
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Track & Field program will open its 2019-20 season on Saturday when the squad travels to College Station for the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

Field and running events are slated to begin at 3 p.m. Â with the high jump and sections of the 60-meter hurdles. Results can be found by clicking HERE. Meet information, including the schedule can be found by clicking HERE.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
On the men's side, the Cougars look to build off another banner year under Head Coach Leroy Burrell. Houston returns a large portion of its sprinting personnel along with several newcomers who are primed to make an impact. The Cougars return Jermaine Holt, who ran on last season's 4x400-meter relay squad, along with sophomore Frederick Lewis who represented Team USA at the U20 Pan-American Championships and was a member of the World Record 4x400-meter Relay squad. Nicholas Alexander and Travis Collins will look to continue a strong sprints tradition at UH.

Triston Gibbons returns to the team looking to build off a stellar freshman season where he earned All-American Athletic Conference honors in the Shot Put and was an NCAA West Preliminary qualifier during the outdoor season.

On the women's side, Houston returns junior Naomi Taylor who earned a pair of top-four finishes at The American Indoor Championships, including a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Taylor advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships and finished second in the 60-meter hurdles. Taylor Scaife returns for the Cougars after taking third-place in the Weight Throw at the 2019 Indoor NCAA Championships. Essance Sample, Brianne Bethel and Tristan Evelyn will bolster a strong sprints squad for the Houston women.
