PALM HARBOR, Fla. – University of Houston seniors Logan Young and George Gardner tied for 12th with scores of 214 to lead the Cougars during the Final Round of the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook on Tuesday afternoon.
Competing as an individual, Gardner fired the team's low round of the day with a 70 on the 7,209-yard, par-71 Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club.
The Southlake, Texas, native drained four birdies in his round, including back-to-back efforts on No. 18 and on No. 1, to post a season-best finish.
Young drained a pair of birdies early in his round and added 15 pars for his third straight Top-20 finish to open the season.
As a team, the Cougars tied with ECU for fifth with a 54-hole score of 846. James Madison captured the team championship with a score of 844 to finish one stroke ahead of Campbell.
No. 39 USF (854) and No. 49 Memphis (854) rounded out the Top-5 leaders.
Junior Luke Long tied for 18th at 215, while junior Alexander Frances tied for 20th at 216. Competing as an individual, sophomore Braxton Watkins tied for 26th at 217, while junior Andrew Gibson and senior Matt Cole tied for 37th at 221.
No. 98 Pontus Nyholm (Campbell) earned medalist honors with a score of 9-under 204 to finish two shots ahead of Isaiah Jacson. Maryland's Peter Knade finished third at 207, while ECU's AJ Beechler finished fourth at 208.

Following the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook, the Cougars join the Houston Women's Golf Team in hosting the White Sands Invitational at Ocean Club in Nassau, Bahamas, beginning Friday morning.
The Cougars welcome Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia Southern, Illinois State, Louisiana Tech, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Northern Illinois, Samford, SMU, UAB, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
The Houston women's team hosted their White Sands Invitational, beginning Monday.
