Isaiah Johnson Set for Saturday’s Senior Bowl

Cornerback is fourth Houston player in five years to play in the game
HOUSTON – Houston senior cornerback Isaiah Johnson is set to play in the 2019 Senior Bowl this Saturday in the Mobile, Ala. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT and air on the NFL Network.
Johnson is the fourth member of the Houston program in the last five years to earn a selection to the Senior Bowl following in the footsteps of Tyus Bowser (2017), William Jackson III (2016) and Joey Mbu (2015).

The Bryan, Texas, native led Houston with seven pass breakups in 2018, his second season playing cornerback after beginning his career at receiver. Johnson led the Houston cornerbacks with 66 tackles, two of which resulted in a loss, while picking off two passes and recording one quarterback hurry.
He started 10 of 11 games he participated in, missing the Navy game due to an injury and the Armed Forces Bowl. In his first season on defense, Johnson saw action in 12 games with five starts in 2017, finishing the year with 45 tackles, nine pass breakups and two interceptions.
Prior to switching to the defensive side of the ball, Johnson recorded 21 receptions for 208 yards in two seasons of action at receiver.
