Houston Goes on the Road for Second Week of American Action

Cougars to face East Carolina and Cincinnati in weekend matches
HOUSTON – The University of Houston soccer team will hit the road for its second week of American Athletic Conference action when its visits East Carolina Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. and Cincinnati Sept. 30 at noon.

The Cougars will return home for a pair of conference clashes with Memphis on Oct. 4 and Tulsa on Oct. 7

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS
The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOWÂ
- The Cougars are coming off of a 1-1 weekend at the Carl Lewis Complex after defeating UConn 3-2 and falling to Temple in a 3-2 overtime decision.
- Houston is currently led in scoring by Desiree Bowen. Bowen leads the Cougars with six goals, including two last weekend against Temple.
- 10 Cougars have scored for Houston this season, one more than the nine players that scored all of last season.
- Mia Brascia leads Houston in the assist category with six assists, which leads The American and is 12th nationally.
- Samantha Cude has been in-goal for the Cougars, racking up 30 saves on 112 shots faced. The junior has a 3-3-1 record.Â
- Bowen is tied for fourth in the conference in goals this season with six and second in conference play with two.
- Madison Fulp and Olivia Lee both have two game-winning goals this season and are tied for second in The American in the category.
- Brascia leads Houston and the conference in assist and is second in assist through two conference matches.
- As a team, Houston is tied for second in the conference in shots with 193.
- The Cougars are fourth in the conference in goals this season with 21 total.
- The Houston goalkeeping personnel is second in The American in saves with 54.
- Houston is second in the conference in corner kicks, earning 66 this season.
- East Carolina is in its first season under Head Coach Jason Hamilton.
- The Pirates are 5-3-2 this season and 0-2-0 in conference play, dropping matches to Tulsa (3-1) and Memphis (2-1 OT).
- Courtney Cash leads ECU in scoring with 11 points off of five goals and one assist.
- Daria Draovitch leads East Carolina in assist with four this season.
- Melanie Stiles is the primary goalkeeper for ECU with 39 saves and three shutouts.
- ECU leads the all-time series record with Houston 3-11-1, Houston defeated the Pirates last season on senior day in a 4-1 decision.
- Cincinnati is in its sixth season under Head Coach Neil Stafford
- The Bearcats are 6-4-1 this season and 1-1 in conference play, dropping a match to Memphis (5-0) and defeating Tulsa (2-1) last weekend.
- Jill Vetere leads Cincinnati in scoring with nine points this season off of three goals and three assists.
- Madison Less and Claudia Eusaquio split time in goal for the Bearcats combining for a 5-4-1 record and 50 saves.
- Cincinnati leads the all-time series with Houston 3-7-1 with Houston defeating the then-No. 21 Bearcats last season at the Carl Lewis Complex in a 2-1 decision.
