Besovic welcomes former Lamar captain to coaching staff
HOUSTON – First-year Head Coach Helena Besovic and the Houston Cougar Women's Tennis program have announced the hiring of Rob Lee as the team's assistant coach.
Lee joins the Cougars after spending one year as the high performance director of the junior academy at King Daddy Sports in Houston. As the performance director, Lee organized and led high-intensity practice sessions from groups of 10 to 40 players and helped juniors transition from challenger to championship and eventually to super championship.
While at King Daddy, Lee coached the junior team to the section championships of the U18 division.
Lee began his coaching career at his alma mater, Lamar, where he was a graduate assistant for the men's team from 2013-2015 before staying on as a volunteer assistant for the 2016 season. During his time with the Cardinals, Lee helped Lamar win the 2016 regular-season and tournament championships and a berth in the NCAA Tennis Championships.
During his final season at Lamar, the squad finished the season ranked No. 58 in the ITA Rankings.
In his playing career, Lee was a four-year letterwinner at Lamar, where he served as the team's captain during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Lee earned First Team All-Southland Conference honors following the 2013 season and was named to the Southland Conference Honor Roll in three semesters.
