Overtime goals snaps Cougars six-match home winning streak
HOUSTON – The University of Houston soccer team fell to 1-1 in conference play with a 3-2 overtime loss to Temple, Sunday afternoon at the Carl Lewis Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
The Cougars will head to the East Coast for conference meetings with East Carolina on Sept. 27 and Cincinnati Sept. 30.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS
The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- For the third time this season Houston got on the board within the first 12 minutes of play. Desiree Bowen earned her fifth goal of the season inside the third minute after heading in a free kick from Mia Brascia.
- Temple would fire back late in the first period, when Gabriela Johnson fired an unassisted goal into the back of the net. Both teams would head into the break tied 1-1.
- The Owls struck first in the second frame, scoring their second goal of the match inside the 55th minute following a corner kick from Emily Keitel. Morgan Morocco would help Temple take a 2-1 lead.
- With 20 minutes remaining, Desiree Bowen would streak down the right side of the field alongside Lauren Flowers who would connect with the junior for her second goal of the day and sixth this season. Both teams would head into overtime deadlocked at 2-2.
- Johnson would be the difference maker inside the 94th minute, firing a shot past through the goal post, ending the game Temple 3, Houston 2.
- Houston was outshot 23-14, including 3-0 in the overtime period.
- Temple racked up three more corner kicks than the Cougars (6-3).
- Jazmin Grant and Natalie Anderson led the Cougars in shots with three each, two of Anderson's were on-target.
- Samantha Cude played every minute in goal for the Cougars, picking up six saves. Cude now has a 3-3-1 overall record.
- This is the fifth overtime match of the season for Houston.Â
- Houston is now 5-6-1 overall this season, 1-1 in The American and 4-1-0 at home.
- The Cougars are 9-3-1 inside the Carl Lewis Complex under Head Coach Diego Bocanegra
- Houston is 1-3-1 this season in overtime matches and 1-4-2 in overtime matches under Bocanegra.
- This game marks the second time this season that Bowen has scored multiple goals and the third time in her career, the last time being Aug. 24 against Prairie View.
- With her two goals today, Bowen is now fourth all-time in goals at Houston with 17 goals in three seasons.
- The junior is also now tied for tenth all-time in points with 34.
- Flowers now has one assist this season and two for her career.
- Brascia leads the team in assist with six this season and is tied for fifth all-time in single-season assist.
- Temple leads the all-time series record with Houston 5-1-0
