Houston Announces 2018-19 Schedule

HOUSTON - Under the leadership of 2018 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Kelvin Sampson, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program will compete in a school-record 20 home games during the 2018-19 season.
The Cougars, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round a year ago, released their 2018-19 schedule, in conjunction with The American, on Wednesday. Playing their first four regular-season home games as well as a Nov. 1 exhibition against Dallas Baptist inside Health & PE Arena on the Texas Southern campus, Houston opens the $60-million Fertitta Center against Pac-12 opponent Oregon at 8 p.m., Dec. 1
Fans may begin purchasing season tickets for as low as $175, a value of less than $9 per home game, while University of Houston graduates from the previous five academic years qualify for special Young Alumni pricing in Section 117 for only $125.

ABOUT THE COUGARS
After posting a 27-8 record with the program's first NCAA Tournament victory in more than 30 years in 2017-18, Houston returns seven student-athletes and three starters from that award-winning squad.
Senior guard Corey Davis Jr. returns as the team's leading scorer after averaging 13.1 points per game and earning The American All-Tournament Team honors a year ago. The Lafayette, La., native became the fifth player in school history to sink 100+ 3-pointers in a single season and buried at least one trey in 29 straight games, the second longest streak in school history.
Senior point guard Galen Robinson paced the team and ranked among The American leaders with 3.7 assists per game. The Houston native and Westbury Christian product looks to become only the second player in school history with 100+ assists in four seasons during his collegiate career.
Junior guard Armoni Brooks enjoyed a breakthrough season to help lead the Cougars to NCAA postseason play and The American Championship title game. Averaging 9.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, Brooks was recognized as the league's Sixth Man of the Year.
The Cougars also welcome six newcomers to the program this season, including sophomore guard DeJon Jarreau and forward/center Brison Gresham, who previously played at UMass during the 2016-17 season, and senior guard Landon Goesling, an NCAA Division II All-Region performer at St. Edward's.
THE SCHEDULE
Houston opens its 2018-19 regular season against Alabama A&M on Nov. 10 in H&PE Arena in the first meeting between the two schools. That game will be the first of four games in the Men Against Breast Cancer Cup with additional games against Rice (7 p.m., Nov. 14), Northwestern State (7 p.m., Nov. 19) and at BYU (time TBA, Nov. 24).
After facing UT Rio Grande Valley at 7 p.m., Nov. 28, Houston begins a new era when it hosts Oregon at 8 p.m., Dec. 1, in the first game inside the Fertitta Center.
After facing Lamar in a home game at 7 p.m., Dec. 4, the Cougars meet Big 12 rival Oklahoma State at 3 p.m., Dec. 8.
The Cougars welcome SEC opponent LSU to the Fertitta Center for an 8 p.m., Dec. 12, showdown. That game will be the first of seven straight home games.
Houston takes on Atlantic-10 power Saint Louis (2 p.m., Dec. 16), Utah State (7 p.m., Dec. 20), Coppin State (time TBA, Dec. 23) and NJIT (time TBA, Dec. 29. From there, the Cougars open The American play and the new year against Tulsa at 7 p.m., Jan. 2., before playing Memphis (5 p.m., Jan. 6).
From there, Houston will meet Wichita State (7 p.m., Jan. 12), ECU (7 p.m., Jan. 23), Temple (6 p.m., Jan. 31), Cincinnati (3 p.m., Feb. 10), USF (5 p.m., Feb. 23), UCF (3 p.m., March 2) and SMU (8 p.m., March 7) inside the Fertitta Center.
In road action, the Cougars will take on Temple (6 p.m., Jan. 9), SMU (8 p.m., Jan. 16), USF (7 p.m., Jan. 19), Tulsa (1 p.m., Jan. 27), UCF (6 p.m., Feb. 7), UConn (6 p.m., Feb. 14), Tulane (1 p.m., Feb. 17), ECU (6 p.m., Feb. 27) and Cincinnati (11 a.m., March 10).
ABOUT THE FERTITTA CENTER
With a capacity of 7,100, the Fertitta Center will feature a premium club and courtside club as well as a reconfigured bowl with mid-court seating closing to game action. The facility also includes floor-level seating opposite the team benches for UH students.
The University will transform an area adjacent to the Fertitta Center into Hofheinz Pavilion, where fans will be greeted by a bronze statue of former Harris Country Judge Roy Hofheinz.
The renovation was made possible through a generous $20-million donation from University of Houston System Board of Regents Chairman Tillman J. Fertitta and his family in 2016.
