Larry Micheaux Selected for SWC Hall of Fame

HOUSTON -- University of Houston Men's Basketball great Larry Micheaux was announced as one of nine members for the 2018 Southwest Conference Hall of Fame class as announced by the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
The Southwest Conference Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at a luncheon at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at the Brown-Lupton University Union on the TCU campus in Fort Worth, Texas.
Micheaux was joined in the Hall of Fame class by Steve Atwater (Arkansas football); Tommy Bowman (Baylor men's basketball); Victor Lopez (Rice track & field); Denny Holman (SMU men's basketball); Brooks Kieschnick (Texas baseball), Curtis Dickey (Texas A&M football and track & field); Kurt Thomas (TCU men's basketball) and Joe Barnes (Texas Tech football).

ABOUT LARRY MICHEAUX
Micheaux was an award-winning student-athlete with the Cougars from 1979 to 1983. A Houston native and Worthing High School product, Micheaux competed in 123 games during his career with 107 starts.
He helped lead the Cougars to three straight NCAA Tournaments, including back-to-back NCAA Final Four appearances in 1982-83, and was a member of three Southwest Conference regular-season and tournament championship teams.
He was a three-year starter for his final three seasons in the Scarlet & White and averaged 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a senior in 1982-83. That season, he earned All-America Honorable Mention honors and was named to the USBWA All-District VI and NABC All-District 9 teams.
For his impressive performances in the postseason, Micheaux was named to the NCAA Tournament All-Midwest Regional Teams in 1982-83. He joined Don Chaney, Elvin Hayes, Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Young as the only Cougars in program history with multiple NCAA Tournament All-Regional Team appearances.
Micheaux ranks 22nd in Houston career history with 1,324 points and continues to rank fourth in school history with 89 wins and a .587 field goal percentage (554-of-943).
