Mulbah Car Named to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

Award presented to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
HOUSTON -- Houston junior running back Mulbah Car was named to the preseason watch list for the 2018 Wuerffel Trophy on Thursday.
Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Semifinalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 1 and finalists will be announced on Nov. 19. The formal announcement of the 2018 recipient will be made at the National Football Foundation's press conference in New York City on Dec. 4. The presentation of the 2018 Wuerffel Trophy will occur at the 50th All Sports Association Awards Banquet on Feb. 15, 2019 in Fort Walton Beach.
Car is the fourth member of the Houston program to earn a spot on a national awards watch list, joining junior punter Dane Roy, who was named to the Ray Guy Award watch list on Wednesday, senior center Will Noble, who was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list last Friday and the Outland Trophy watch list on Tuesday, and junior defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who has earned a spot on the watch lists for the Bednarik Award, Maxwell Award, Outland Trophy and Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
