Dane Roy Named to Ray Guy Award Watch List

Junior punter led The American with 25 punts inside the 20 in 2017.
HOUSTON -- Houston junior punter Dane Roy has been named one of 28 punters to the preseason watch list for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top punter, the Augusta Sports Council announced Wednesday.
The 29-year old Australian led the American Athletic Conference in 2017 with 25 punts inside the 20 and with a rate of 43.1 percent of his punts inside the 20.

In November, the Ray Guy Award committee will meet to select the ten semifinalists, who will be announced on Nov. 15. Three finalists to be announced on Nov. 20 before the winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN on Thursday, Dec. 6.
Roy is the third member of the Houston program to earn a spot on a national awards watch list, joining senior center Will Noble, who was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list last Friday and the Outland Trophy watch list on Tuesday, and junior defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who has earned a spot on the watch lists for the Bednarik Award, Maxwell Award, Outland Trophy and Brokno Nagurski Trophy.
