Henry Named to Stopper of the Year WL

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- After a strong first half to the 2018 season, Houston Baseball sophomore Carter Henry was recognized as one of the nation's top relievers, being named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, announced by the organization on Thursday.
Henry currently leads the Cougars out of the bullpen with 19 appearances and 33.2 innings pitched. The righty owns a 1.07 ERA and is 4-1 with five saves. He has managed to hold opponents to a .179 average and has struck out 33.
Henry hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 10 appearances which total 14.0 consecutive innings. The last earned run allowed by the Port Neches, Texas native was back on March 17 vs. Columbia.
In American Athletic Conference play, Henry owns a 0.00 ERA and is 2-1 with four saves in seven appearances. He has struck out 14 in 9.1 innings and opponents are hitting .176 against the sophomore.
Henry is the only American Athletic Conference reliever on the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, which features 41 of the top relief pitchers in the nation.

Houston travels to No. 7 ECU for a three-game American Athletic Conference series this weekend. The series begins at 5:30 p.m. CT Friday, continues at 3 p.m. CT Saturday and wraps at 10:30 a.m. CT Sunday.
