Senior Cade Climie reaches 50 career multi-hit games with pair of homers against TCU

HOUSTON – Despite a pair of home runs from senior Cade Climie, Houston Baseball fell to TCU, 8-3, in the series opener at Lupton Stadium on Friday night. Climie's effort pushed him to 50 career multi-hit games.

Sophomore Kendall Hoffman (2-5) took the loss after tossing six innings where he allowed six runs while striking out a season-high seven batters for Houston (18-22, 4-15 Big 12). Trever Baumler (2-3) claimed the win after allowing two runs in 5.2 innings for TCU (26-15, 11-8 Big 12).

Game Summary
After Houston claimed the first lead of the game on Climie's first homer in the top of the second, TCU immediately answered with a trio of runs on a homer of its own in the bottom of the frame.

The Horned Frogs added another pair of runs to make the score 5-1 in the fourth before Climie hit his second long-ball of the game in the top of the sixth. TCU extended its edge back to four with a run in the bottom of the inning, then pushed the score to 8-2 with two runs in the eighth.

While Houston shrunk the deficit to five as senior Antonelli Savattere singled home Jackson, the comeback came up short as TCU closed the door to win 8-3.

Houston's series against TCU continues at 2 p.m. Saturday before a 1 p.m. Sunday conclusion. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
