Houston Falls at No. 19 Texas on Tuesday

AUSTIN, Texas -- Houston Baseball managed to hold No. 19 Texas to just four hits, but eight free passes proved to be the difference maker as the Cougars dropped their Tuesday midweek matchup in Austin, 9-4.
With the loss, Houston fell to 25-16 overall, while Texas, with the win, improved to 29-15.
HOUSTON HITS
- Connor Hollis singled to lead off the game to extend his on-base streak to 14 games.
- Tyler Bielamowicz each extended their on-base streak to 14 games.
- Grayson Padgett extended his on-base streak to 11 straight games.

Houston had seven hits and out hit Texas by three. Connor Hollis led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Jared Triolo notched another two-hit game. Tyler Bielamowicz had an RBI.

Houston starter Lael Lockhart Jr. went 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit, but two walks and two hit-by-pitches was the difference as four runs scored. He fanned two, but would suffer his first loss of the year and now is 1-1.
Kyle Ott allowed four runs on two hits with a walk and Fred Villarreal walked one and allowed an unearned run.
Sophomore Brayson Hurdsman was the bright spot for the Cougars' pitching staff, allowing just one hit over 5.0 shutout innings in relief. He struck out four in his bullpen appearance and managed to retire his first 12 hitters he faced.
KEY INNINGS
1st | Houston scored the game's first run in the top of the first following a lead off single by Connor Hollis, walks by Lael Lockhart Jr. and Joe Davis before Tyler Bielamowicz groundout out to put Houston on the board first with a 1-0 lead.
2nd | The Cougars added to their lead in the second with a pair of manufactured runs without a base hit as Cooper Coldiron and Drew Minter opened the frame with back-to-back walks, which led to runs on an error and a few groundouts.
3rd | Texas scored four runs in the third on one hit, two walks and two bases-loaded hit-by-pitches to make it a 4-3 game in favor of the Longhorns.
4th | The Longhorns extended their lead to 9-3 with a five-run fourth inning following two hits, an error and four free passes.
7th | With one out, Connor Hollis reached on a single and later came around to score on a wild pitch after moving to third on a single by Jared Triolo to make it 9-4.
ON DECK
The Cougars will then embark on a three-game series at No. 7 East Carolina over the weekend, set to begin Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT, continue at 3 p.m. CT Saturday and wrap at 10:30 a.m. CT Sunday.
