PALM COAST, Fla. â€" Facing windy and early cold conditions, the 23rd-ranked University of Houston Women's Golf program pushed its lead to four strokes following the Second Round of the American Athletic Conference Championships on Monday afternoon at Hammock Beach Golf & Spa Resort.
The Cougars posted a score of 302 Monday for a two-day score of 593 to hold a 4-shot lead over Memphis. UCF stood in third at 598, while No. 47 ECU was in fourth at 599.
Senior and 55th-ranked Megan Thothong enjoyed the Cougars' low round of the day with an even-par 72 on the 6,276-yard Conservatory course. After making 12 straight pars to start the day, the Dallas native enjoyed back-to-back birdies on Nos. 13-14 and finished at 145, one shot behind leader Dorthea Forbrigd of ECU.
Junior Leonie Harm was tied for fourth at 147 with Wichita State's Taryn Torgerson, Tulsa's Olivia Jackson and Emily Goldenstein of Memphis. The Gerlingen, Germany, native enjoyed birdies on two of her first four holes to start the day.
Senior Courtney Tibiletti joined Thothong and Harm among the Top-10 leaders. The Huntsville, Texas, native was tied for 10th at 149.
Competing in her first American Athletic Conference Championships, sophomore Amanda Elich was tied for 16th at 152. Senior Allie Andersen was tied 31st at 158.
Following ECU, Wichita State (618), Tulsa (620), Tulane (621), Cincinnati (624), USF (625) and SMU (629) rounded out the field.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament wraps up with the Final Round on Tuesday. The winner receives the league's automatic bid to NCAA Regional play.

FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
For Tuesday's Final Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Memphis off No. 1.
Andersen will start the day for the Cougars at 8:20 a.m. (CDT) Monday with Elich (8:28 a.m.), Tibiletti (8:36 a.m.), Harm (8:44 a.m.) and Thothong (8:52 a.m.) following.
UP NEXT
Following the American Athletic Conference Championships, the Cougars learn their NCAA postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show at 4:30 p.m., April 25, on the Golf Channel.
From there, the team enters the postseason beginning with the American Athletic Conference Championships on the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Golf & Spa Resort in Palm Coast, Fla., on April 15-17.
