Last Week
Houston Baseball defeated Texas Southern, 4-3, on Tuesday before going 0-3 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic with losses to No. 6 Kentucky, 14-2, No. 21 Mississippi State, 3-2 in 12 innings, and No. 5 Vanderbilt, 9-4, to move to 5-5 on the season.

Against TSU, sophomore Jared Triolo lined a double down the left-field line to score senior Connor Hollis, lifting the No. 19 Cougars to a 4-3 come-from-behind win … The walk-off win was the second for Houston on the season … At the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic, junior starter Aaron Fletcher was named to the All-Tournament team … Fletcher tossed a career-long 6.1 innings and tied his career best with six strikeouts against Mississippi State … Houston will compete in the 2019 Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic, set for March 1-3, 2019 … The field includes all Texas programs as the Cougars join Baylor, Rice, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas State.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week
No. 25 Houston Men's Basketball improved to 24-6 overall with a 69-56 win at SMU on Wednesday and 81-71 win over UConn on Sunday. With Sunday's win, the Cougars finished the regular season at 14-4 in American Athletic Conference play and a perfect 15-0 at home.

At SMU, senior guard Rob Gray finished with 19 points and nine assists … Junior guard Corey Davis Jr. posted 17 points and made five 3-pointers … Against UConn, Gray posted a game-high 30 points, the seventh 30-point game of his career … Junior guard Corey Davis Jr. added 17 points with four 3-pointers, his 26th straight game with at least one trey, tying with Jherrod Stiggers and Kelvin Lewis for the third-longest streak in school history … Prior to the game, Houston honored its four seniors â€" Gray, guard Wes VanBeck, Devin Davis and Nura Zanna… With the win, 2017-18 team became the 12th in school history to win 24-plus games in a season and the first since the 1991-92 team went 25-6 … Houston also closed out the regular season a perfect 15-0 at home, its first undefeated mark since the 1983-84 season … For his efforts in both wins, Gray was named The American Player of the Week … Houston will enter The American Championship as the No. 3 seed and play the winner of sixth-seeded UCF and 11th-seeded ECU on Friday at 8 p.m. in Orlando … The game will be televised on ESPNU … Ahead of the tournament, postseason honors were announced Monday by The American with Gray claiming first-team honors for a second-straight season … Freshman Fabian White Jr. was named to the All-Rookie Team.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week
Fifth-seeded Houston Women's Basketball fell 98-72 to 12th-seeded Tulsa on Saturday in the first round of The American Championship. With the loss, the Cougars, who await their postseason fate, fall to 20-11 on the season.

Against Tulsa, three Cougars finished in double figures, including a team-high 27 points from sophomore guard Angela Harris… Sophomore guard Jasmyne Harris finished the game with 12 points and a team-high six assists, while junior guard Serithia Hawkins added 11 points … Prior to the tournament, The American announced its postseason awards, as Jasmyne Harris and Angela Harris were named to the Second and Third Teams, respectively.

Houston Soccer posted a 1-0-1 record to opens its spring schedule. The Cougars tied Houston Baptist, 1-1, before defeating UTSA, 2-1.
SOFTBALL
Last Week
Houston Softball went 4-0 at in the Houston Red & White Showcase. The Cougars picked up two wins apiece over Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to improve to 12-4 overall and 8-0 at Cougar Softball Stadium.

Houston opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over SFA on Friday … On Saturday, the Cougars posted a pair of shutouts with 6-0 and 3-0 victories over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and SFA … In the circle, junior Presley Bell and sophomore Trystan Melancon (4-2) each tossed complete-game shutouts … Facing TAMU-CC, Bell carried a perfect game into the top of the sixth inning and ended the game allowing just two hits while striking out a career-high six batters and issuing no walks … Against SFA, Melancon scattered three hits and five walks while fanning a career-high 10 batters … On Sunday, Houston closed the tournament with a 6-1 win over TAMU-CC … Junior Savannah Heebner picked up her team-leading sixth win in the circle to improve to 6-1 … With its second-straight tournament sweep, Houston improved to 8-0 at Cougar Softball Stadium, the program's best home start since 2008 … For their efforts, sophomore second baseman Arielle James and Presley Bell were each named to The American Weekly Honor Roll.

Houston Swimming & Diving will send Micaela Bouter and Lauren Burrell to the 2018 NCAA Division I Zone D Diving Championships in Minneapolis, across March 5-7 … Fresh off of its second consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship and for the first time since the 2009 season, Houston will send three swimmers to the NCAA Championships .. Zarena Brown, Peyton Kondis and Ksenia Yuskova will represent Houston in two events at the Championships March 14-17 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio … Houston led The American with 13 All-Conference selections, three more than the 10 selections from the 2016-17 season ... For the second straight year, Ryan Wochomurka earned The American Women's Swimming Coach of the Year Honors becoming the second coach in program history to earn the honor more than once.
TENNIS

Houston improved to 12-1 on the season with 4-0 and 4-2 victories at Abilene Christian and at North Texas.

At ACU, the tandems of Tsveta Dimitrova and Sveva Mazzari, and Ana Gluman and Constanden Nicolaou with 6-3 and 6-1 victories … In singles, Dimitrova, Mazarri and Glumac all picked up victories … At UNT, Dimitrova, Alter, Nicolaou and Glumac all recorded victories.

Houston sprinter Elijah Hall has been named the 2018 USTFCCCA South Central Regional Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for the indoor season, while Leroy Burrell took home the region's Head Coach honor and Carl Lewis earned the Assistant Coach honor … Houston Men's Track & Field will send three athletes to compete in four events, plus the 4x400-meter relay to the NCAA Indoor Championships, to be held across March 9-10 at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas … Houston landed Hall (60- and 200-meter dash), Kahmari Montgomery (400-meter dash) and Nathaniel Mechler (heptathlon) as well as the 4x4 team on the final ranking released Tuesday … Hall and Montgomery each enter the Championships with top-5 times in their respective events, while the 4x4 squad enters fourth in the NCAA … Hall becomes the first athlete at Houston to qualify for multiple individual events at the NCAA Indoor Championships since Darius Pemberton (55-meter hurdles and long jump) accomplished the feat in 1996 … Montgomery will make his second trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships, and his first since transferring to the Cougars from Missouri prior to this season … Mechler will make Houston's first appearance in the heptathlon since 2011 after a school-record setting performance at The American Indoor Championships … Burke and Montgomery will join a combination of juniors Amere Lattin and Mario Burke, and freshman Quivell Jordan in the final race of the indoor championships, the 4x400-meter relay.
