CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Houston Baseball split its Friday American Athletic Conference double header at Cincinnati, earning a 4-2 win in Game 1 and falling 2-1 in Game 2.
With the Friday split, the Cougars are now 17-10 on the year and 4-1 in league action. Cincinnati is 11-13 and 2-3 in American play.
The two teams will meet in the series finale at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday.
HOUSTON HITS
- Jared Triolo has reached base in 26 straight games and has a hit in 12 straight.

Houston out hit Cincinnati, 6-4, led by Lael Lockhart Jr. with a two-hit day, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Tyler Bielamowicz also registered an RBI on a 1-for-4 day, while Landon Etzel, Jared Triolo and Connor Hollis each had a hit and scored a run.

Trey Cumbie tallied 10 strikeouts en route to his fourth 10+ strikeout game of the season. The southpaw tossed an 8.0-inning gem, allowing just four hits and two runs with one walk and 10 punch outs.
With his performance, Cumbie improved to 3-1 on the year.
Sophomore reliever Carter Henry took over in the ninth after a leadoff double and kept Cincinnati off the board, tossing hitless frame to earn his second save of the year, striking out a pair.
KEY INNINGS
1st | Houston jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Joe Davis reached on an error and scored on an RBI-double by Lael Lockhart Jr.
3rd | Cincinnati used a pair of hits in the third to tie the game at 1-1.
4th | The Cougars grabbed the lead at 2-1 for the second straight time thanks to another Cincinnati defensive miscue. Jared Triolo doubled down the right field line with one out and came around to score on a throwing error by the shortstop.
6th | Cincinnati tied the game back up at 2-2 as its leadoff hitter reached via the HBP and came around to score on an RBI-single.
7th | Landon Etzel led off the seventh with an infield single and moved to third on a failed pickoff attempt. He then came around to score on a 1-out RBI-bunt single by Tyler Bielamowicz to give the Cougars the 3-2 lead.
8th | Houston added another run in the eighth after Connor Hollis reached on a one-out singled, moved to third on a fielding error and scored on fielder's choice by Lockhart to make it a 4-2 game.
GAME 2: CINCINNATI 2, HOUSTON 1

Houston starter Aaron Fletcher suffered his first loss of the year, falling to 4-1. The southpaw surrended two runs on seven hits with no walks in 6.1 innings. He fanned five.
Senior reliever Joey Pulido tossed the final 1.2 innings without allowing a hit or run with one strikeout.
KEY INNINGS
3rd | Cincinnati jumped out to the early lead with a run in the bottom of the third on three hits, highlighted by a two-out RBI-double.
4th | Houston quickly responded with a run of its own in the fourth, sparked by a double off the right field wall by Jared Triolo, driving in Connor Hollis, who reached on an error.
7th | Cincinnati used back-to-back, one-out hits in the seventh to score what proved to be the go-ahead run.

Following the weekend series at Cincinnati, the Cougars will travel to Texas A&M to face the Aggies in Tuesday showdown at 6:30 p.m. in College Station, Texas.
Houston will return home to host USF in a three-game series next weekend at Schroeder Park, beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
